NEW YEAR’S DENTAL RESOLUTIONS

On behalf of Ramona Family Dentistry, we would like to wish you and your family a happy and healthy New Year. If you are in the midst of coming up with resolutions that focus on improving yourself and your wellbeing in the coming year, Dr. Nathan Christensen, D.D.S. and Dr. Hemant Sachdeva D.D.S. encourage you to keep your oral health in mind. Here, they share simple dental resolutions to make in 2019.

FLOSS DAILY

The American Dental Association (ADA) recommends everyone floss once a day. Unfortunately, not everyone abides by this rule. Flossing is necessary to remove the food particles that get stuck in between teeth and are not easily removed with brushing. If you find flossing with standard dental floss difficult or tedious, consider purchasing a water flosser. While there is no concrete evidence that one method is more effective than the other, some people might find it easier to use a water flosser than standard dental floss. The easier it is to floss, the more likely a person is to floss regularly. Your dentist can go over the proper flossing technique during a routine dental checkup. He or she can also explain the differences between dental floss and water floss in detail.

CUT BACK ON SODA

Ditching soda is an effective way to limit the amount of harmful sugars and acids that come into contact with your teeth and eat away at your teeth’s enamel. Dentists warn that even sodas labeled as diet or sugar-free also contain acids that can harm the teeth. Your best bet is to cut back on soda and opt for healthier choices like water.

SCHEDULE A ROUTINE DENTAL CHECKUP

In last month’s blog post, we discussed the many reasons why you shouldn’t skip a dental checkup, from preventing serious dental issues to boosting your overall health. The ADA recommends that children and adults visit the dentist at least twice a year for a routine dental cleaning and exam. Your dentist may recommend you come in sooner than every six months depending on your personal oral health. If you can’t remember the last time you visited the dentist for a routine checkup, we strongly encourage you to make an appointment with our team!

BRIGHTEN YOUR SMILE WITH A COSMETIC DENTAL TREATMENT

Do you practice good oral health habits and yet find that you are unhappy with the appearance of your smile? A cosmetic dental treatment with Dr. Nathan Christensen, D.D.S. and Dr. Hemant Sachdeva D.D.S. can help you smile confidently all year long. The cosmetic dentist offers an array of treatments to improve the color, shape, size and alignment of teeth. Perhaps you could benefit from a quick in-office teeth whitening procedure to lighten your teeth up to eight shades. Or maybe porcelain veneers can hide unsightly cracks, gaps or chips, instantly improving your smile and confidence. Dr. Nathan Christensen, D.D.S. and Dr. Hemant Sachdeva D.D.S. would be happy to discuss your cosmetic dental options with you during an in-office consultation.
